BORG FAMILY GETS MAIDEN PUBLIC OUTING IN WASHINGTON

Borg Family Shiraz 2005 was invited to be shown amongst a selection of top South African wines at the Washington DC International Wine and Food Festival last week-end.

The seminar was organized by WOSA and titled “South African Icon Wines: A tasting tour with the best with Michael Franz” It introduced the South African wine to the public with a presentation and a selection of  9 top South African wines of varying styles and from different regions.

Wines presented to the public were as follows.

“ I was absolutely delighted to be asked to present my wine amongst such esteemed company “ said Jeremy Borg. Michael Franz commented “ the wine is absolutely delicious”

The 2005 Shiraz was hand made from grapes grown on Ingwe farm in Somerset West. The grapes are off an especially expressive block of south facing vines.

Borg Family Wines was formed in 2004 by former chef and Fairview marketing man Jeremy Borg and wine photographer Emma Borg and is dedicated to hand made expressive wines. The focus of Borg Family is to produce the best possible Shiraz and Pinotage based wines from a variety of terroirs in the Western Cape.

Michael Franz is a leading wine educator and wine journalist in the USA who has contributed a wine column to the Washignton Post for some years and who has been published in most of the leading wine and food magazines in the USA. He is a leading supporter of quality South African wine in the USA.
